From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences expanding in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Schemers tables.
